Interestingly, though we typically think of fat loss happening mostly from our arms and legs (or other “peripheral” areas), research shows that visceral belly fat — which lies deep within the abdominal cavity surrounding organs like the liver, pancreas and intestines —is actually one of first places we tend to lose fat when we exercise and eat a healthy diet.

This makes sense when you consider that visceral belly fat is more metabolically active than other types of fat tissue meaning it’s more easily broken down for use as energy..
